Health: Workshop on technical guide for integrated disease surveillance |

A workshop to validate the technical guide for integrated disease surveillance began Monday in Nouakchott. Chairing the opening ceremony, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ely Ould Mohamed Telmoudi, said that the evil ¬ adies contagious form the main cause of mortality in Mauritania and populations most vulnerable to these diseases are those who live in a precarious situation in terms of income, housing and access to the drinking water. Dr. Ould Ely Telmoudi said that Mauritania, by its climate, its geographical position, its economic and social situation and its level of growth, is more exposed to diseases, especially cholera, meningitis and measles. He called the validation of technical guidelines to be used as a general reference for health personnel in the diagnosis and prevention of diseases. Meanwhile, the WHO representative, Mr. Ahmedou Ould Yaghoub, stressed the need to validate the technical guide for integrated disease surveillance and adapt to the conditions and climate in Mauritania. According to sources from the Ministry of Health, 35 million people die annually in the world as a result of chronic diseases
