The Ministry of Commerce and Industry organized on Tuesday in Nouakchott, the first meeting of the National Steering Committee (NOC) program "Support the competitiveness and harmonization of technical barriers to trade (TBT) and Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) "commonly called quality programme Africa, the West. Chairing the opening ceremony of the meeting, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ousmane Ba, said that the objective of this programme is to strengthen the competitiveness of enterprises and ensure compliance the international rules of trade and technical regulations, in particular the WTO agreements and the strengthening of national and regional infrastructure.
He also said that this program is within the guidelines of the government to build a competitive economy, capable of conquering export markets and plays an active role in the fight against poverty and integration the country in international trade.
The committee includes representatives from ministries of Economy and Finance, Petroleum and Mines, Fisheries, Trade and Industry, Agriculture and Livestock, Equipment, l 'Urban Development and Housing, Ministry Delegate to the Prime Minister, responsible for Environment, the Chamber of Commerce and National of Employer.
It is noteworthy that this program is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
