The Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr. Dy Ould Zein announced Thursday evening in Nouakchott a further decline in prices of oil, as specified an order of the Minister.
This announcement comes under the guidance of General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the High Council of State, Head of State for improving the living conditions of the Mauritanian citizen through the strengthening of its purchasing power, the consequent reduction in prices of liquid hydrocarbons throughout the national territory.
Mr. Dy Ould Zein said that the measure on the reduction of 21.2 UM price of a liter of Diesel, 20.7 UM price of a liter of kerosene and 12.8 UM price of a liter of gasoline.
Accordingly, he says, the price of a liter of diesel will Nouakchott UM to 245.2 instead of 303.7 UM in force since 6 August 2008, representing a decrease of 58.5 UM.
The Minister stressed that this reduction may not affect the living conditions of citizens, adding that the fuel is a component of cost of all products, including products in addition to the transport of persons.
"Aware of the degree of civility of our operators," added the minister, "I can not doubt that the consistent decline in prices of oil does not immediately affect not only the product itself, but will impact especially on prices products in which it is an essential component of the cost. "
Ould Zein also indicated that the Order provides a new transparent approach to compensate for the losses incurred from this decline by distributors who are in the chain so they are protected against losses that may generate this decline, reaffirming that it is a first which is a permanent concern of the President of the High Council of State, Head of the State to safeguard the interests of all operators.
The Minister said that such compensation is about 20% for the distributor to allow it to recover with precision.
The announcement of this decline has occurred in the presence of Minister of Commerce, Handicrafts and Tourism, Mr. Bemba Ould Derman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, its legal counsel and directors crude oil and liquids in the same department.
