Nouakchott, Mauritania - President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi of Mauritania will pay a two-day ‘friendly visit’ to Libya Saturday, reliable source told PANA here.
This visit will be the first by Cheikh Abdallahi to Libya since his election as President last March.
Under the administration of President Maaouyia Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya, who was toppled in a military coup in August 2005, the relations between the two countries had been strained, with Nouakchott accusing Tripoli and Burkina Faso of backing numerous attempts to topple the country’s regime.
The two countries consistently denied the allegations.
