ENERGY: A gas power station for Nouakchott, in the study
Mauritania has signed with the Malaysian company Petronas a memorandum of understanding to launch a study on the establishment in Nouakchott of a gas power station, with a capacity of 700 MW, which a first part will be delivered before the end of 2011.
The Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr. Dy Ould Zein, who has just completed a visit to Malaysia where he signed the MOU Nouakchott returned on Tuesday from Kuala Lumpur. Following the signing of this MOU, the two sides held a meeting to launch the work stopped and the steering committee of the study.
In the Malaysian capital, the Minister of Petroleum and Energy had attended from 2 to 6 December 2008, a symposium on oil and new technologies, organized by Petronas and sponsored by companies internationally renowned as Exon Mobile, Shell, Saoudia Aramco, Total and Murphy.
During his trip, Mr. Dy Ould Zeine was accompanied by a delegation including his legal adviser, the Director of crude oil to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and director of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbon Company (SMH).
